In 1871, Guenther Wagner, a chemist and factory manager, took over the management of the company. In the same year, he also designed the company's logo and registered it as a trademark. Pelikan thus became one of the first companies with a registered trademark in Germany and soon expanded its operations to neighboring countries.
Before 1890, the original paint and ink manufacturer became a multi-product company producing a wide range of office supplies, but the first Pelikan fountain pen was not manufactured until 1929.
Pelikan is known for its combination of high quality and constant innovation. Pelikan models are characterized by flawless functionality and clean design throughout all product lines. Limited editions of fountain pens are among the most sought-after items by collectors from all over the world.
